title pic Can Anything Good Come Out of Holland?

Posted by Lorren on July 31, 2008

What do you think of when you think of Holland? Perhaps if you think of Old Holland, you might think of windmills, dikes, and tulips.

Lately, when I’ve thought of Holland, I’ve thought of Amsterdam, a nasty city with legalized prostitution and drugs. Not really the top tourist destination for Christian families.

But perhaps that image might be changing. I’ve recently discovered one reason for visiting Holland other than being able to say that I’ve been there.

Next time you happen to be in Holland, you can visit a replica of Noah’s ark! That’s something worth seeing!

It’s not a full size replica, but it is pretty big. It is half as long as the real ark, and a third as wide. Inside is a museum with life-sized animals in it. It is located on a barge that floats around to various places in Holland.

If you get the chance to go, it does cost a few Euros to enter the country… but it’s for a good cause. The mastermind behind this project, Johan Huibers, spent one million Euros to complete this project. That’s a lot of money! His next project, if things go well with this museum financially, is to build a full-sized replica of Noah’s ark. Perhaps that might show people that you can fit two of every kind (remember, a kind of animal is not the same thing as species, a dog is still a dog whether it’s a labrador or even, perhaps, a wolf) of animal on board.

You can learn more about the ark by visiting his site. I don’t know about you, but I’d love to get to go. At least I know there’s still one good thing in Holland.
