Lessons From Iraq

Another debate post.
What lessons did we learn from Iraq?
McCain pointed out how we learned that we had to change our strategy to try to go in and win Iraq. If we leave Iraq in victory, we gain an ally in the gulf, and there is more stability in the area. If we leave Iraq in defeat, we leave the door open for Iran to get a foothold there, and we might have to go back.
Obama… well, we shouldn’t have gone in there in the first place.
Well, the question isn’t whether we were supposed to go into Iraq in the first place. We’re there. Now that we are there, we have to finish. I agree that we shouldn’t have gone in in the first place. I didn’t think Iraq had WMDs in 2002 either, when we started to think of going to war. But the question wasn’t whether we should have gone in there, the question is, now that we’re there, what are we going to do about it?
Going into Iraq is history. You can’t change it. Now we have to finish the job.
