title pic Prophecy Fulfillment?

Posted by Lorren on October 8, 2008

I’ve been watching Bible prophecy for the last 10 years or so. I watched as the European Union banded together and introduced the Euro, I watched as Applied Digital debuted the VeriChip, I saw the rise of Putin and of Russia. I noticed the changes to the world after 9/11, the rising of Dubai from the sands of Arabia, the prominence of Iraq and the increasing belligerence of Iran…

But there has been nothing so jaw-dropping, IMO, regarding the prophetic calendar, than in the last few weeks.

Now, I don’t believe that America is the center of the prophetic universe. Far from it. But I have also read my Bible, and I know that America is strangely absent from the prophetic books of the Bible. Well, there is a verse somewhere about an eagle getting it’s wings cut off (now that’s a pleasant thought), but I’m not sure if that refers to us or not, and that certainly doesn’t seem to scream “America, world’s superpower,” does it?

Well, 10 years ago, America was the world’s sole superpower. For the events of the tribulation to occur, America can’t be the world’s superpower. 10 years ago, most Christians I knew believed that so many Americans were Christians, that when the rapture occurred, it would destroy the United States, which explains why there is no American player in the end times.

Today, there are a lot fewer Christians in America than there were 10 years ago. It is unlikely that there are so many Christians in America that the rapture would take us out. But, an economic meltdown, especially combined with the rapture, could take out America and allow the prophetic time table to continue.

Not only is the United States undergoing economic turmoil, markets all over the world are tumbling. Europe is hurting. The Asian markets have been falling. It looks like all of us, in many countries of the world, are in for a hard time.

Prophecy watchers from all over the world know one thing… that one day, there will be a global dictator, and people all over the world will be willing to give their country’s sovereignty away. The world will be in such poor shape that the person that rises out of the world’s despair and solves the problem will almost be worshipped as a god… but then, he will be worshipped as a god halfway through the tribulation… under penalty of death.

Could this be the global meltdown that leads to the rise of the antichrist? I’m starting to hear whispers of “one world currency” and “new world order” in a non tin-hat situation… I believe it was CNN that I heard this on, not some conspiracy site. I can’t say one way or another, but this could be it. We could be seeing prophecy fulfilled right before our eyes.

God has been very patient with us as a people. Our world has been persecuting Christians to a degree that we haven’t seen since Christians were being thrown to the lions or set on fire for candlelight in ancient Rome (not in the US, but in many other places). Immorality is running rampant almost everywhere… when I lived in Italy, there were some nasty billboards right out there in public. Television everywhere probably grieves the Lord greatly. We can’t let our children play outside, watch television, surf the internet, or even go to public school without worrying that they will be hurt or damaged by something they see or someone they meet. So many people hate God with a passion… yet he patiently waits. He waits for people to repent, ask for forgiveness, and trust in his son Jesus, who came to die for the forgiveness of our sins nearly 2000 years ago. Some of my friends have said that they are in “trumpet mode,” because some day, he’s going to blow the trumpet, and all of his people will be gone, leaving everybody behind to face the tribulation. I hope that’s not you. He’s coming, perhaps soon… and when the trumpet blows, I hope that everyone reading this blog is going up for the ride.
