title pic The Russian Question

The economy has been on everybody’s minds recently. The Dow lost another 698 points today, the national debt clock has run out of room after it reached more than $10 trillion, and a lot of people have or have been losing their jobs. The bailout bill was passed, despite an unprecedented amount of emails pouring in urging congress NOT to (and it doesn’t seem like it’s done much to help either).

With the economy falling apart, what would happen if the US defaulted on it’s debt? That’s not really unrealistic…

What if countries stopped importing to us? What if they stopped importing oil?

What if Russia saw this as an opportunity? Russia has been getting pretty cozy with Iran recently.

If they sent some nukes over our way, we would be able to defend ourselves. The Armageddon option. I doubt that under any circumstances would we let our defenses down in that regard. Even if we couldn’t afford to pay the military any more, I’m sure that you could get a few patriotic volunteers to help out in that important matter. But what if they attacked us with planes and conventional bombs, and we had no oil or money to pay our military?

We’d be in a world of hurt.

What would happen if our economy collapsed and Russia attacked Israel? The Bible does predict that Russia will attack Israel at some point.

If Russia attacked Israel and our economy had collapsed, there wouldn’t be much that we could do. With no money and no oil, it would be hard to help. Europe would not help, they really don’t care and/or are sympathetic to the Palestinian cause, and they are increasingly becoming dependent on Russia’s oil.

If Russia attacked us, Europe would not come to our defense. They have been increasingly hostile to us lately, and in any conflict between America and Russia, they would have to side with Russia because of their oil dependency.

As I mentioned earlier this week, America is not listed in prophecy. There could be a couple reasons for this. We could be destroyed completely. I hope that is not what will happen. The other reason America might not be mentioned is that we are crippled economically and militarily, and are not strong enough to make any sort of impact on world events during the tribulation. Australia, Zimbabwe, and Brazil are not mentioned in prophecy either, after all, and I doubt that is because they will be nuked off the planet. They just are not power players in the world stage.

No matter what happens, everything is known and controlled by God. For us that are Christians, perhaps he is testing us. We have better times waiting for us in the next life.
