Will America See Christian Martyrs Soon?

Recently, there have been several death threats made by pro-gay people to Christians who believe the Bible says that homosexuality is wrong. I’m sorry, but those of us who believe the Bible can not pick and choose what we want to believe in the Bible, no matter how much non-Christians would like us to.
The Mount Hope Church in Lansing, Michigan, was recently the victim of an attack by homosexual activists. About 30 people came into the church shouting obscenities at church members, pulling the fire alarm, and causing mischief. I don’t think that anybody was hurt.
Just the other day in front of another church in California, an old lady peacefully holding up a cross in the midst of an anti-proposition 8 rally had her cross snatched out of her hands, thrown on the ground, and stomped on by the pro-homosexual crowd. Makes me think of that verse about how if they hated Jesus, they will hate us.
Unfortunately, I don’t think that this is something that can be resolved peacefully. Bible believers can not deny what the Bible says, as we believe that those are the words of God. Those that deny Jesus among men, the Bible says, Jesus will deny in front of his Father in Heaven. Lemme tell you, I am much more concerned about what Jesus thinks of me than what you guys think of me. On the other hand, people that don’t believe that the Bible is true really have no reason to think that gays shouldn’t get married. Christians are the ones that are perceived to be evil because they don’t agree with us… and outside of denying the Word of God, there’s nothing that can be done to change this.
Thankfully, nobody has been hurt over this yet. However, since this debate is not going to go away, and I don’t think that anybody is going to budge, tensions are not likely to end any time soon. Which makes me wonder… will the first American martyrs of the 21st century be Christians who will not back down?
