The Pledge

The wonderful people at the Oprah Winfrey studios (Harpo Productions) have brought us this fabulous propaganda piece in the spirit of Nazi Germany:
Aren’t government officials supposed to be servants of the American people, and not the other way around? When the people are servants to the most high ruler, they are subjects, not citizens. The ruler is normally then known as a king, or an emporer, not a president.
The video asks what your pledge is. Well, here’s mine. I pledge to be true to my only king, the King of Kings, the Lord Jesus Christ. I pledge to read my Bible, pray, and help the church reach out to a lost and dying world.
Here’s a better pledge:
I’m glad that my kids get to learn about the Constitution in their class. And they don’t have to listen to Barack Obama and participate in loyalty exercises to him on Tuesday. Maybe we should pray for our children Tuesday. It is easy to deceive them, because they don’t know any better.

I pledge not to buy a movie ticket for the rest of my life. I pledge not to buy a Hollywood film DVD as long as I live. I pledge never to pay a monthly cable or satellite bill or spend my days being spoon fed the celebrity mentality via a television. I pledge to pray that these celebrities will leave their religion of pride of find Jesus Christ as Savior.
