I just finished writing this page on the Fulton Street Revival. Basically, one man decided to start a prayer meeting in the middle of the day, God listened, and the world was forever changed. This occurred in 1857. Conditions of the time were similar to our own. Wealth had made some apathetic, a recession was going on, there was a decline in morality. That all changed. When you think of the last days of the 19th century, you think of a nation that loved God.

Our church is having a week of revival meetings. This means something different than it did back in 1857. We go to church for several days in a row, the messages are to prompt us to do more. Now, this is not a bad thing, but it’s not the kind of revival that America experienced in its earlier days.

Could we experience revival today? Why not? Because we are in the last days? If we are in the last days, shouldn’t that make us want to pray even harder? Take as many as we can with us? If our time is short, maybe we should spend less time trying to soak up every last remnant of this world, and more time getting ready for the reality that could come soon.
