Today I found out that I was nominated to Squidoo’s Giant Squid Program. I have been writing for Squidoo since March or so, and originally didn’t see its potential. At first, I thought it was a good resource for directing traffic to my Associated Content articles, but I have since seen that it has a lot more potential than that.

Squidoo allows you to make web pages on almost any subject imaginable. The owners share the profits that you make with you. You don’t have to make any fancy flash web pages; just put out good content, spice it up with a few pictures, and maybe include a few links to Amazon.com. My latest Squidoo project is to create pages on the Olympics. With Vancouver coming up, I figure that now is a good time to get pages ready for the games. Some pages take a lot longer to make. I’ve been making pages on Survivor and current events as well. I’m currently working on a “Top 10 Bible Stories” lens.

To make Giant, you have to make 50 really good pages, which they call “lenses”. Every quarter they allow new people to qualify for the Giant Squids program. There’s also a Giant 100 program, for people who have already made Giant. I’ll be working on that for now.

Squidoo has been a great opportunity. Although I earned $.03 my first month, it’s gone up from there. My last payment was $5, but it should be over $10 this month (probably around $15). In addition, Squidoo has led to $15 in Zazzle profits this month as well, and the month is only 3 days in. Some people make $1000 a month at it. The site continues to expand, and the profit potential is only limited by the number of hours in the day and how hard you are willing to work.

Squidoo is always looking for new lensmasters, or people to create new Squidoo lenses (pages). You can create lenses on almost any subject that you like, as long as it’s not spammy or X-rated. They have a forum to help people out, and many Squidoo lensmasters have created pages to help others get the hang of things. Also, if you’re a mom, let me know if you want to join the special “try it free” week on RocketMoms. Although RocketMoms is free to join (if you’re a mom), it might not be their thing. The “try it free” week will help you go through the process of making your first Squidoo lens.
