Republicans Take Elections, but Does That Matter?

WE THE PEOPLE by cabinfeverdavid
There were several elections today, and many of them went to the Republicans. Republicans won the statewide races in Virginia and took the governorship in New Jersey. In a special election in New York, the independent Hoffman almost beat the Democratic candidate.
Does this matter? Perhaps. It depends on what results from it. In many cases, the choice offered is merely a choice between the slow trek to socialism and the fast track. This vote shows that the people aren’t really happy with being hurled into a Marxist utopia.
Could the election change things? If the representatives in office look at the results and see that the people aren’t interested in where this country’s headed, perhaps they will start listening to the people about how we don’t want Universal Health Care and Cap and Trade. Perhaps some of them will fear their jobs. That would be a healthy thing.
It’s probably too early to tell. The Republicans haven’t been listening to the people for years either. Hopefully it will change.
