“Christian” Militia Group is Busted

Glenn Beck mentioned last week that he was fearful for our country. He was afraid that someone would rise up and use violence against the socialists and communists that are gaining a foothold in our government. He asked us to not use violence. In return, I suggested that we need to be radical Christians… the first century kind of Christians that would pray for our enemies, no matter what happened.
Like many people, I was upset when the health care bill passed. However, the more I learn and think about it, the more I realize that we will be okay in the end. If you really take a look at the Great Depression… you can see that we’re going down the same path. Liberal Fascism is a great book; I’m finally getting around to reading it. I can see many parallels between Wilson and FDR and today. Although it’s a scary time, America made it through… and they were better for it. They weren’t called The Greatest Generation for nothing. The other thing is… we win in the end. If I’m a radical Christian now… in the end, even if they throw me to the lions, I come out ahead.
There’s a group of “Christians” that think that the best way to live is to kill policemen in an attempt to bring forth the Antichrist. This Hutaree militia was raided over the weekend, thankfully before they could do any damage. Now, I’m not going to say whether these clowns were saved or not, but if they are, they need to start reading their Bible, because they are severely deluded.
Their web site says that “Jesus wanted us to be ready to defend ourselves using the sword and stay alive using equipment.” While it is true that we are to use a sword… that’s the sword of the Spirit, AKA the Bible. I keep a Bible in my backpack because I don’t want to forget it when I go to church. They used to ask if you were carrying any weapons. I’ve always wondered what would happen if you said “well, I do have my Bible with me.” They don’t ask that any more though.
Ephesians 6:2 says “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” How is a physical sword going to attack something that normally doesn’t have a physical form? Our enemy is not the state, or anybody in the government… our enemy is the satanic forces of the world. The only way you’re going to fight against that is by prayer.
If these people really want to see Jesus’s kingdom come, maybe they should start praying the Lord’s Prayer… “thy kingdom come” and all that. If God can make the world in six days, he can come back on schedule. “Christians” don’t have to take up arms. Mary Queen of Scots supposedly said “I fear the prayers of John Knox more than all the assembled armies of Europe.” John Knox was a preacher who was devoted to God. He didn’t have physical force. She was later executed for treason.
Christians need to pray and follow the Lord, not take up arms.
