Martin Luther King Jr’s Rules for Marchers
Posted by Lorren on April 21, 2010
This was from Glenn Beck’s show. He had MLK’s niece on the other day, and she had this list of MLK’s rules for people that marched in his marches.
I have said before that if we care about this country, we need to stand firm. We can’t let Andy Stern’s “persuasion of power” deter us. I labeled it as “radical Christianity” a little while ago, but I suppose that Martin Luther King did preach a form of radical Christianity. These rules are good for any patriot to follow (my comments are in color):
- Meditate daily on the teachings and life of Jesus. as Christians we should always do this
- Remember always that the nonviolent movement seeks justice and reconciliation, not victory.Jesus came for us all… we wrestle not against principalities and powers
- Walk and talk in the manner of love; for God is love.
- Pray daily to be used by God that all men might be free. Jesus sets us free.
- Sacrifice personal wishes that all men might be free. What good does it do to gain the world yet lose our souls?
- Observe with both friend and foe the ordinary rules of courtesy.
- Seek to perform regular service for others and the world.
- Refrain from violence in fist, tongue, and heart. We can do a lot of damage to people even by gossiping.
- Strive to be in good spiritual and bodily health.
- Follow the directions of the movement and of the captain on demonstrations.
