What Can I Do?

Over the last month, one question has been asked… “what can I do?”
My church has been getting ready for our missions conference that starts this week. The question there is “what can I do to tell others about Jesus?” Yesterday, I asked myself the question at the Glenn Beck event: “what can I do to help restore America?”
In some ways, those questions are linked. One of the biggest problems in America is our lack of faith, hope, and charity. Love for Jesus and the Christian God will lead to all three of those. I don’t know of any fundamental Christian murderers (who really live the Christian life, not just do the Christian thing for fire insurance or because of culture). People that really love Jesus and try to live by the Bible are unlikely to rob their neighbors or embezzle money. “Christians” that do those things are more than likely only pretending to be Christians.
The answer to both of those questions has been the same, for me. Write. For other people, the answer is probably different.
I’m not a born leader. I don’t like talking to strangers (I get nervous calling the phone company). These are things that I won’t be, because it’s not me.
There are many things that we all can do. We can encourage others. We can pray for our country. We can bake food for the church bake sale. We can help a child. Perhaps we can’t do all of those things, but we can do what we can.
Moreover, we can all live lives of integrity. We can make sure that we’re honest in everything that we do, even if it’s small, and even if we know that we won’t get caught. We can be honest. We can work hard. We can treat others with kindness. We can be forgiving.
We all can do something to make America (and the world) better.

You are so right. If our country would just turn toward God, I can’t imagine the enormous difference that would make in everything.
