title pic Citigroup Economist Rosy on the Future… NOT

Posted by Lorren on May 19, 2010

“Public finances in the majority of advanced industrial countries are in a worse state today than at any time since the industrial revolution, except for wartime episodes and their immediate aftermath”
~ Willem Buiter, chief economist at Citigroup

I saw this quote the other day, and I didn’t think much about it at first. Then I thought about it again.

The world has had some pretty bad economic situations since the industrial revolution. Hyperinflation in the Weimar Republic. Massive inflation of the ruble right before the Soviet Union collapsed. The 1970s and its gas lines. The Great Depression. We are in a worse state now? Great…

I have been writing about the economy and about food since 2007. I’ve written about stock market turmoil, and stocking up on food, as early as August 2007. If you haven’t noticed, things haven’t gotten better since 2007. We have less time left.

I’m attending a prophecy conference on Revelation this week; it should be pretty interesting. I missed the first half because I was in California, but I do plan on getting the CDs and handouts. I’ll pass on things if I find them striking.

Anyway, when Citigroup is telling you that the financial picture is not good… wake up! I hope that you have more than a day’s worth of food in your cupboards. Don’t be like those people after Hurricane Katrina complaining that you don’t have anything to eat! Get ready. You may not be able to outlast a long storm, but at the very least, don’t be one of the first people to starve.
