title pic Plague Hits Syria? This is Odd…

Posted by Lorren on July 6, 2010

I found a link on Facebook today about plague hitting Syria. My first question was… were they thinking about attacking Israel recently? Then I saw that Syria has been warning about an upcoming war in the Middle East.

If you are a student of Bible prophecy, then you might realize that the Bible predicts the destruction of Damascus in the last days (see Isaiah 17 at link). Damascus, of course, is the capital of Syria. When Syria talks of war in the Middle East, or is attacked by a mysterious plague, then it makes my ears perk up. It is especially interesting that this plague is occurring after Syria talks of war with Israel. The Bible says that in the end times, Israel will be a nation. God will not allow Israel to be destroyed completely; there will be an Israel in the last days, but there will not be a Damascus.

Syria’s president says that the plague is being spread by food and drinking water, combined with the current drought; however, plague is generally spread by insects and contact with people that have plague, not drinking water.

This reminds me of the story of Gideon, which my pastor talked about in church on Sunday. The Israelites defeated the Midianites with clay pots and torches. If you go against God, bad things can happen. Like mysterious plagues.
