Targeted for Assassination?

Obama has an assassination program, and it’s not just foreign dictators that are on his hit list. According to Salon.com, dozens of Americans could be on Obama’s assassination list. The assassination program is (currently) aimed at persons that are suspected of terrorism. Earlier this year, you may recall, Supreme Court Justice nominee Kagan was in favor of detaining persons suspected of terrorism indefinitely without trial. Now, it’s probably not a good idea to detain a US citizen without taking them to court, but it’s another thing to assassinate someone without witnesses or taking them to court.
Already, it is believed that suspected terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki was the target of one of these assassinations. This particular guy was associated with some of the 9/11 hijackers, but let’s not forget that governor Tom Ridge once gave a definition of terrorist that people don’t generally agree with:
“To those Americans who would lash out at your fellow citizens, simply because they worship differently, or dress differently, or look differently than you, there is one word for such behavior: terrorism.”
The key question is “what is the definition of ‘lash out’?” I have said before that people that don’t repent of their sins and trust in Jesus will go to hell; is that lashing out? Does that make me a terrorist? Furthermore, Tea Party members are also on the list of suspected terrorists… yes, I am super dangerous. Especially because I have a Patrick Henry quote on my Facebook profile, and I have stated publicly that I will not back down from my faith even if others should choose to kill me.
I don’t know who’s on the government hit list. Perhaps, for the time being, there are only real terrorists on that list. That’s where it starts. We need a system of checks and balances. We need the courts to send people to their demise. If we allow the government to decide who can be assassinated, then I’m afraid that first the real terrorists will be on the list, then innocent people suspected of being terrorists will be on the list, then high-profile people that the government doesn’t like (aka Glenn Beck) will be on the list… then low-profile (but outspoken) people who will never get with the government program of indoctrination will be on the list (like me). Obama’s associate Bill Ayers once said that about 11.6% of the US population would end up dying in death camps if the Weather Underground got what it wanted. I’d like to think that it was far-fetched today, but the government does not inspire confidence.
