No Wonder Newspapers are Failing…

I subscribe to the Sunday edition of the Arizona Republic for the coupons. Like many people, I get most of the news off the internet.
The AZ Republic will deliver newspapers on holidays, even if you only subscribe to Sunday. Now I see why the newspapers are failing. I took a look at the articles in the front section (it was a very small newspaper). Here are some of the topics:
Libya is having problems (that’s something worth reading)
Retailers are having problems because people are shopping online
There is a bypass for sheep at the Hoover dam
The government may experience a shutdown (that’s important to know about)
Teens are sharing videos on cutting
Then there was a local section, a sports section, and an Arizona Living section. The entire newspaper was quite flimsy indeed.
Do newspapers wonder why nobody reads them any more? This is supposed to be the biggest newspaper in our state, and there is nothing about Egypt, Bahrain, Madison, or many of the other rioting places on the globe.
The Wall Street Journal usually seems to have some interesting stories. They have online access. The AZ Republic is fine for the coupons, but for real news, my local paper just doesn’t have it.
