I had an interesting morning today…

Dh takes the bus to school every day. It’s pretty convenient, as it goes straight from the ASU campus that we live on to the ASU campus that he has his law classes on. I usually take him to the bus stop. A couple of times a week (like today), I drop him off at 6:45 AM and then come back and go to sleep.

Not today.

I dropped him off and ran out of gas on the way back to the house. So I pushed it into an approved parking spot (passing a couple of parking lots that I wasn’t authorized to park in because I don’t have the permit to park in that location).

The really cool part though, is that I had to get it over a speed bump. Tried as I could, I couldn’t push the car over the speed bump. So I prayed that I could start the car in order to get it over the speed bump, and God gave the car that much gas, to get over the speed bump. Then I pushed it to a parking spot. I had a little help turning it into its final spot.

Then I went home and got my iPod and walked to the gas station. I got that walk done that I had planned on doing last night, but never got around to doing.

Now dd has an ear infection (again), so we’re going to take her to the ear specialist. He said to come see him if she had another ear infection in a short period of time. The last time we saw him was four weeks ago. Hopefully we can get her ears taken care of eventually so she’s not always getting these things.

I have a pretty good life though. Sure, my day hasn’t gone exactly as I had planned it, but that’s okay. I often say, you gotta do what you gotta do, even if it means taking a job for minimum wage when you have a degree and used to make the equivalent of six figures. Or writing for less than minimum wage now, in order to make more in the long run. Think about the pioneers. A three-mile walk was what they did just on the way to school (that’s how much walking I did on my gas adventure). They had quite a few hardships, but they did what they needed to do for a better life.

Dh is always telling me about these college students who get on the bus and sit for 10 minutes in order to avoid a five-mile walk (it’s not hot in Arizona yet either). What are they going to do when a real challenge comes up?
