It’s easy to point fingers at other people or the ancient Israelites for turning to government for help before they turn to God, but what about us? Do we pray that God will solve a problem before we write Congress or turn to the government to help us?

In less than a lifetime, Israel went to a nation crying out to God to one wanting to be like other nations. The US is going through a similar process, it seems.

Pharaoh wouldn’t let the Israelites go. Whether or not the people of Egypt agreed with their leader, they were punished for the actions of their government. The US, and many other countries of the world, are going through similar circumstances.

It may seem like the Lord is taking a long time to return, but he will come at just the right time. He won’t be early or late. He was on time to help Noah, confuse the people at Babel, and send the savior Jesus. He will arrive at the right time for us as well.

Cain fled from the presence of God after he sinned. Enoch walked with God, and Noah was just and righteous in his generation. God protected Enoch and Noah. Let’s strive to be like them.

In the New Year, perhaps we should make a plan to be better people, in terms of doing the right thing and following God.

We were put here for a reason. We might want to live comfortable lives, like the Hobbits do, but we may have to live a life quite differently than that. We can’t control world events, but we can control how we react to them.

Please pray for the USA, or whatever country you live in. We’re going to need it.

If humans can work their way up to godhood, contrary to mainstream Christian belief, then it isn’t too far-fetched to believe that Barack Obama could be a god.
