Operation Thunder Dome

In Survivor Caramoan: Fans Vs. Favorites Episode 6, the tribes get shaken up a little bit (as we could expect, since this was a Fans vs. Favorites season).  The tribes are getting a new start, in a way, but for one tribe member, it will be the end of the Survivor journey.  Old rivalries will continue, however.  It will be up to the other tribe members to try to exploit this.

After the immunity challenge that never was, because the Favorites chose to forfeit so they could vote out Brandon at an impromptu Tribal Council, it was apparent that the Favorites left behind were still a little upset.  Although Brandon was gone, they couldn’t stop talking about him.  They hoped that he never came back for another Survivor season.

Persona Non Grata

Phillip thought of Brandon as a "Persona Non Grata" in Survivor Caramoan Episode 5. Photo by stroinski.Survivor Caramoan: Fans Vs. Favorites 2, Episode 5 was an episode unlike any other that you’ve seen in Survivor history.  In this episode, one of the tribe members decides that he doesn’t like the way that things are going, and decides to go out with a bang.  If you’re going to watch one Survivor episode this season, you’ll probably want to catch this one.  It is one for Survivor history.

As the episode started, the Fans tribe was optimistic after voting out Laura and flushing out the hidden immunity idol.  Reynold said that he didn’t really like having the hidden immunity idol, and he felt that it just put a target on his back, but don’t believe that for a second.  He wanted to have it.

Over at the Favorites tribe, Brandon was missing his family, but he was a little indecisive.  First, he volunteered for his tribemates to vote him out of the game.  Later, he admitted to thinking about burning down the shelter and peeing in the beans and rice.  Then, he changed his mind and decided to play with all of his heart.

In Survivor Caramoan episode 3, the vote was split. Brandon said that if he weren't safe, there would be hell to pay. Image by Seano1There's Gonna Be Hell to Pay

In the third episode of Survivor Caramoan: Fans Vs. Favorites 2, the fans had taken sides, and one person in particular, Shamar, was at the center of the division.  In the meantime, the favorites were making alliances and scheming to secretly oust one of their tribemates.  In the end, the tribe that went to tribal council tried a voting scheme that is always risky to carry out: splitting the vote to make sure that the immunity idol doesn’t mess up their plans.

Fans

When the fans returned from tribal council, Reynold was upset that his ally Allie had been voted out.  Shamar blew his top, not only yelling at Reynold, but yelling at Matt, who was in his alliance.  In a way, Reynold, Eddie, and Hope tried to make themselves feel better about being in their losing alliance by calling the blindside of the night before the “Revenge of the Nerds.”  Rather than realizing that they weren’t in high school anymore and would have to play nicely with the others if they wanted the chance to stay around, they decided to resort to name calling.

Kill or Be Killed

In Survivor Caramoan, either you compete well or you're gone.In Survivor Caramoan: Fans Vs. Favorites episode 4, one player has a medical emergency.  One tribe has to choose between whether to vote out the weakest physical link or to vote with their alliance.  In the meantime, Phillip continues to give “code names” to the people on his tribe, much to the annoyance of some.

When the episode began, Eddie was upset that his ally, Hope, had been voted out, instead of Shamar or Laura.  Being outside of the dominant alliance, I’m not sure what he was expecting.  Hope wasn’t necessarily a challenge powerhouse herself, and having a couple in an alliance can be a very powerful thing.  Voting out Hope was probably a smart move on the part of the majority alliance.  Voting out Eddie and Reynold at this point might be a mistake, however.

Over at the Favorites tribe, Phillip was going around handing out “code names” to everybody on the tribe; even people outside of his alliance.  I’m not sure if he thought that it was cute or anything, but at least a few people on the tribe found it a little annoying.  They went along with it anyway.  For some reason, Phillip had a dominant role in the tribe, and it’s usually not a good idea to get on the wrong side of someone who is leading the tribe, unless you can form your own alliance that is at least as powerful.

Honey Badger

Brandon said that he was like a Honey Badger. Photo by Jaganath. In Survivor Caramoan: Fans vs. Favorites 2, Episode 2, some of the people started to get on each other’s nerves.  Some people weren’t pulling their weight around camp, while others realized that organization can help when the time came to participate in immunity challenges.

Bikal

The episode started out after tribal council, when Brandon and Dawn had a disagreement.  Knowing that Francesca had been voted out first the last time she had appeared on Survivor, Brandon thought that it had been mean to vote her out first again.  This really upset Dawn, who had to walk away.  On the beach, she sat by herself and cried for a bit.  Back at camp, Brandon thought that perhaps he needed to change tactics a bit, and play more like his Uncle Russell this time around.  He compared himself to a “honey badger” in this regard.
