Today I spent most of the time in church, but there was a lot of stuff going on in the news today.  Some was a continuation of stories that have been developing over the past week, but there were some other things that are new.

There are some signs in the earth, as well as some degradation of morality going on.  If you live in the United States, please pray for the country, the elections, and that the people of this nation will turn to you.  If you live in a different country, please pray for the place where you live; there is wickedness all around this world, and we all could use the power of the Holy Spirit.

I've been concerned that the world is headed into World War III/the war described in Ezekiel 38 and 39 for some time now.  The Lord has been merciful to us to postpone this war so far, but at some point, the war described in Ezekiel 38 and 39 will happen.  While what is going on seems concerning, God knows everything that is going on, and if we trust in him, then things will work out.  It's good to keep our eyes on the eternal, instead of just the immediate future.

People Get Ready for Sandy

Hurricane Sandy is on it's way; please pray for those people that are in it's pathway.  I talked to someone today who lived as far inland as Ohio, and she was telling me that waves as high as 21 feet were expected off Lake Erie.  On one road that she travels on to class, waves as small as 3 or 4 feet will put water on the road.

Shelves have emptied already in most places where the storm is expected to hit.  On my blog, I urged you to prepare on Friday; I hope that you prepared when you had the chance.  What I'm particularly concerned about is the people in New York City and in other locations where people don't often have cars.  I realize how hard it is for people that don't have cars to get around; for the first few years of college, I didn't have a car.  While it often wasn' t a problem, as most of the places that I needed to go were within walking distance, I did have troubles when the bus drivers went on strike and when I had to travel longer distances (as you would have to do when escaping a hurricane).  I rented a car once when I needed to drive for a longer distance, but that is often not an option, especially for some of the poorer residents that live in the city.  Please pray for those that couldn't evacuate for some reason.

In addition to the bare store shelves, transportation services in the area are being shut down.  You won't be able to take Amtrak out of the area at this point, so hopefully you weren't planning on using that as your way to escape.  Many schools in the area are also shutting down; and if you live in the area, I would check to see if your work is still going to be open.

There are a lot of hazards that could occur as a result of this storm.  This storm could dump snow in the area.  If water goes over the walls and enters into the subway system, this could blow out transformers and cause a lot of damage from that.  Another concern for this storm is the possibility of tornadoes.

7.7 Earthquake Hits Canada

This morning, when I woke up to check the internet before heading off to church, I noticed that there was a 7.7 earthquake that hit the northern part of British Columbia, Canada.  It wasn't felt around the Seattle area.  It has been 63 years since another large earthquake has hit this area.  In Matthew 24:7, Jesus specifically mentioned "earthquakes in various places" as a sign of his return.

We seem to have had fewer earthquakes, on average, for most of 2012, but in the past 90 days, there have been 6 earthquakes of magnitude 7+ (in an average year, there would be about 4 earthquakes over a 3 month period).

Tsunami Hits Hawaii

The 7.7 earthquake in Canada caused a tsunami in Hawaii.  When I woke up this morning, I noticed that there was a tsunami warning, which was how I found out about the Canadian earthquake.  Fortunately, the tsunami did not cause much damage.

Obama Campaign Compares Voting to "Doing It"

In a disgusting attempt to get people to vote for Obama, the campaign recently released a video comparing voting to "doing it".  You want your first time to be with the right person, right?

There were two video responses to the original video:

That's all I have for tonight.
