The Mayan Calendar.

It’s December. If you believe the Mayan Calendar, then we have about 21 days of life as we know it left. I personally believe the Bible over the Mayan calendar, so I don’t believe in all that; however, I do believe that other people believe it. That could affect things in the next few weeks. That being said, Jesus said that we will not know the day nor the hour when he comes (Matthew 24:36), so I can feel pretty confident that the Rapture will not be this December 21st. Perhaps the 20th or the 22nd, but not the 21st.

Over the last week, I’ve noticed a disturbing trend: people imposing god-like attributes to President Barack Obama. Like I mentioned in today’s blog post, “Humans Working their Way to ‘Godhood’”, only God is God, and no human will ever be; however, throughout history, some people have promoted their leaders to god-status. This happened with Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, and many of the pharaohs. Jaime Foxx called Obama “Lord and Savior” and the crowd cheered. A painting (which was actually created in 2008) depicting Obama with a crown of thorns on his head, in a pose resembling Jesus’s crucifixion, made headlines this week as well. I has to make me wonder where we’re actually headed here. I’ve never seen anything like this before with any president in my lifetime (or read about it in American history books).

Russians Prepare for Doomsday

I haven’t seen too many people in the US freaking out because the end of the Mayan calendar is near (perhaps that will come in another week; many Americans seem to be short-sighted), but the Russians are getting ready for the world to occur.  Some are stocking up on food; others are moving out of the city entirely, thinking that the country will be a safer place in the event of the end of the world.  Some Russian travel agents are offering tours to Heaven or to Hell.  They offer a money-back guarantee if they actually don’t get there.

Tickets to Hell cost more than tickets to Heaven.  They figure that Hell would be “more fun” than Heaven.  That seems to be a mindset that a lot of people have, but believe me, Hell is not going to be any fun at all.  Nobody will be having a good time there, and you won’t be able to see your friends.

California Hit with Heavy Storms

This weekend, California is expected to be hit by their third storm in a row.  Already, downed trees have snarled traffic in Los Angeles, and thousands of people were without power for a while.  Now, with the ground already saturated with water, the third storm is expected to be the most damaging.  A few rivers are expected to overflow its banks.  Many areas are under flash flood warnings as well.

UN Votes to Grant Palestinians Statehood

On Thursday, the world voted to grant Palestine status as a non-member observer state in the United Nations .  The US, Canada, Israel, and six other countries were the only countries to vote against the measure.  This may result in the world turning against Israel even more than it has before, because now the country, when it moves to defend itself against attacks by Hamas, can be seen as aggressive actions against another state.

The Bible tells us of a time when the entire world will turn against Israel, and even against God himself.  The entire world will turn against Israel during the battle of Armageddon, which will occur at the very end of the tribulation, where Jesus himself will come and fight the battle for everyone else.  However, there is an event that will happen even before that.  Ezekiel 38 and 39 speaks of a battle where several countries from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa will fight against Israel: this may be a part of the upcoming World War III.

Mohammad Morsi Takes Over as Dictator of Egypt

Egypt is working on a constitution; in the meantime, the president of Egypt, Mohammad Morsi, has decided to take over as leader of the country, for now.  He says that he won’t be just another dictator, and his power takeover is only “temporary”.  Mmm hmmm.  Coming soon to the US?  Give it a few more years.
